フラグミペディウム・ベッセアエ
北半球中心のアツモリソウの仲間(Cypripedium)、熱帯アジア中心のパフィオペディルム （Paphiopedilum）そして中米〜南米原産の約20種からなるフラグミペディウム（Phragmipedium）は食虫植物を思わせる袋状の花を咲かせます。フラグミペディウム・ベッセアエはコロンビア、エクアドル、ペルーのアンデス山脈に分布します。不思議な事にこの目立つランが発見されたのは1981年と最近のことです。この花の色は魅力的で交配も進んでいます。
Genus Phragmipedium includes about 20 species . Phragmipedium besseae is a terrestrial orchid native to the wet montane forests on the eastern slope of the Andes in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It was recently discovered in 1981. It has a beautiful red flower so this species is widely used in hybridization.
